Windows 7 SIM "unable to generate a catalog" error
by Guest Diretiger- 0 replies
Hi, I have no previous experience at deploying operating systems, but I was tasked with learning the steps to deploy Windows 7 on machines that currently have Windows XP. I was able to use the "Step-byStep: Basic Windows Deployment for IT Professionals" to deploy a basic image. Now I'm trying to add applications to the image using the Microsoft recommended process from the "Create a Data Image" site: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744513(WS.10).aspx . I used imagex to create the data image as suggested: D:\imagex.exe /capture C:\Data\DataFiles C:\Data\MyData.wim "MyData" When I try to use Windows SIM to create an answer file that contains the path to …

Emails disappearing from inbox in Outlook 2010
by Guest Hugreen- 0 replies
I use an incoming POP3 system for Microsoft Outlook 2010. On several occasions, the contents of my inbox have vanished. All sub folders remain populated, as do sent and deleted items. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this. I do not have a rule set up to empty my inbox at all, or to move messages to other folders. None of the advice I have seen in forums so far seems to answer my problem. Please help. It is now a major issue for me. Continue reading...

Office 2010 Pro Plus won't activate properly
by Guest Andy.OConnor- 0 replies
One of our users computers has an installation of Office 2010 that is saying it is not activated. I have taken steps to try and fix this to no avail. -When I click on the "Activate Now" button it takes me to a screen to input the Key. I paste the key** in, and the I get the green check mark saying it is a valid key. -I hit OK, and it takes me to the next page asking if I want a full installation or custom one. (Note: Office is already fully installed on their machine and has been in user for the past 3-4 weeks already, theoretically with the key inputted at install.) -I hit Full Install and it takes about 30 seconds to do some configuration changes (not sure wh…

by Guest Caprichoso- 0 replies

I downloaded the Windows Live Essentials for Windows 7 running under Parallels 5.0.9310. When I try to bring up Windows Live Mail I receive the error: Windows Live Mail could not be started. Closing Windows Live Mail. Your calendar contains corrupt data that is forcing Windows Live Mail to close. (ox8000fff). I have: 1. Done a repair via control panel 2. Deinstalled just mail from the control panel, removed the registry entries for Windows Live Mail in hkey_current_user and hkey_local_machine. 3. Reinstalled just mail. Nothing seems to work. I am still getting the error. Continue reading...

SmartScreen Filter flagging a download link as malicious
by Guest Above MCSE- 0 replies
The SmartScreen Filter in IE8 and IE9 is flagging a download link as malicious that I know is perfectly safe. It is for the highly popular FileSearchEX application. A story was just ran on LifeHacker for it! I did report the link as safe, but how in the world did something like this happen? The malicious warning is for the download to the .exe only, not the site. Under IE9 I can't even figure out how to finish the download for the product! Continue reading...

MSE constantly showing "unprotected" status! HELP!
by Guest Jennifer O.- 0 replies
I've been using MSE for a while and I like it, although unless I completely uninstall the program and then reinstall, it constantly shows "unprotected", and "you haven't run a scan in a while", even though a FULL SCAN was just run (I will maybe see a little green house with a white checkmark in it for a couple of hours after a complete scan, but then it goes right back to being orange). I don't understand this. It's NOT a conflict with CCleaner (I've read the posts on it and have made the corrections), there is no Norton or McAfee products on the computer (even run both company's uninstalling programs just to be sure), and I've run a complete Malware scan with Malwareby…

How to stop Expression Web 2 from blocking Office 2010 Installation?
by Guest Birk Binnard- 0 replies
My system is Win7-64 with Office 2010 Professional Plus (64-bit version) installed and Expression Web 2. Achieving this configuration was not easy - I previously had Office 2007 & EW2 installed, but to get Office 2010 installed I had to de-install (and clean up) both Office 2007 and EW2. Then I had to install Office 2010 and re-install EW2 after that. Now I need to install Office 2010 InfoPath which of course requires running the Office 2010 Setup program. The problem is this Setup fails every time (just like it did before.) So does the MSI installer file in the InfoPath subdirectory on the Office 2010 CD. So I seem to be stuck. I really don't want to go th…

by Guest MicroHennes- 0 replies

hello everybody, I have to disable the autorecovery - and unsaved functions in the office 2010 suite on winXPsp3. In the group policy console i set the function to "disabled" , so on the client side in the registry the values for: software\policies\microsoft\office\14.0\excel\options\KeepUnsavedChanges =0 software\policies\microsoft\office\14.0\excel\options\AutoRecoverEnabled =0 software\policies\microsoft\office\14.0\word\options\KeepUnsavedChanges =0 software\policies\microsoft\office\14.0\word\options\AutoRecoverEnabled =0 appear. This works fine on Powerpoint, but in Excel and Word users still have the chance to enable autorecovery from the "file" menu on t…
