I recieved a phone call from a blocked number saying they were calling from Microsoft, that data was being downloaded onto my PC at record speeds that would cause my PC to crash, and instructed me to go to system logs..then the call was disconnected. Anyone know of Microsoft doing home calls to protect PC'S?? AND if not-why would some one do this? what are they after? Continue reading...

Problem: I try to open attachments from encrypted emails when I get the "open,save/save as" box and try all 3 and I just get a blank page after that. Also, I cannot download files in general. I tried downloading ie9 again click on save or save as and nothing happens. I already restored advanced settings and reset while deleting all user information and, yes, "do not save encrypted pages to disk" is unchecked. Continue reading...

Hi All, I've very weird problem with security essential. I downloaded the security essential when I bought my netbook. For few months it was working fine. I was able to update it regularly. Now, somehow, it is not getting activated. I mean, it is off in my system. The notification area shows that security essential is off. When, I click on that to turn it on, the turn on button is grey out. - I searched a lot to find out the reason but there is no help at all. - I found the microsoft defender is creating the trouble, I turn it off and tried to on the security essential but no luck. - I also tried to update it but there is no luck again. The error I get is so…

One of my coworkers has a problem with Windows 7 on his Dell laptop. He had to do a system restore to fix another problem, and now he gets a pop-up from Windows Activation Technology claiming that his installation of Windows 7 Pro x64 is not genuine. I checked in Control Panel > System, and it says that his copy is genuine and activated (this is a Dell OEM installation). I tried using slmgr.vbs to enter the product key from the machine's COA and then activate it, but that didn't fix it. So I ran the MGADiag utility (see below). Does anyone have a clue how to fix this mess? Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0): ----------------------------------------- Windows Val…

I am attempting to access the "? mark for help in Outlook 2010. I want to know where I can set the program to automatically perform a "send / receive" every x number of minutes. Each time I click the "?" upper right hand corner, Outlook attempts to run Setup to configure -whatever-, then asks me to reboot. I've been through this nut roll for about times now and never get the help I need. I've "repaired" using the original MS Office 2010 DVD with no success? Am I alone in the world with this issue? Hello, I perused the forum but no luck on specifics.. setting up scan schedule in MSE does nothing. I don't understand why that is but surmise that something else must happen in conjunction. I see there is also: "create basic task wizard" and it goes Desc. Trigger. Action and then Browse for program script. Which program is it? With this set up does it "Wake" may PC up and do the scan and then shut down? PS dig MSE hats off and LOVE Windows 7! ps this is quad core 64. Thank YOU! Mr. Jumbles Continue reading...

Since installing W7 SP1 (itself with great difficulty) I find that ie9 loads my home page but on choosing a new tab defaults to blank page. This happens on rebooting (or relogging-in) and I have to reset via tools/internet options/tabbing where I find the option shown is Blank page. On choosing the New Tab Page option and saving, I then have my favourite sites again when I next open a new tab! Tried the repair option suggested for 32 bit installations but no joy. After recent updates of xp home with sp3 and Microsoft Security Essentials, I've noticed some new random letter services. Specifically, KKLEVXJ LTWYLD LBBIVIAAC NQGLVKOG NTPHNIOHEQ SQKAUUIVTRREP VWILQTY, all with blank descriptions. These services are set to manual, but not started, and point to liked named exe files in my temp folder. Are they results of the updates or something to worry about? Thanks. Continue reading...
