Hi, I am not sure if I am in the right forum, but since the issue I am experiencing begins with MSE I thought I'd post the question here. For about a week now, whenever I do a system scan (manually) with MSE, my laptop freezes always on file amdsata.sys in location c:\windows\systems32\drivers. The only thing I could do was to hard reboot (holding down the laptop start button for a few seconds). I was using Avast until a week ago when I uninstalled it in favor of MSE. I have installed Turbo Tax 2011 Delux tax software and am receiving error 42002: could not connect to the update site to receive the latest updates. The Turbo Tax support site says to adjust the settings or rules on my security software to allow selected programs to install and function as intended. I started a homegroup on one machine and couldn't access it from one of my laptops so I decided to start over but then I realized that the machine that created the homegroup was the one I don't have anymore. Now it seems that I cannot create a new homegroup from my laptop so I can start over. It keeps asking me to join the old machine's one and of course I didn't write the password down so I cannot rejoin that either. The DVD does not run the install although I have changed the bios boot properties to boot from the dvd it trys then bypasses and goes to the regular windows os after downloading the win7 update it appears the file is compressed although i have burnt to the dvd the file is listed as a image file could this be the problem? Every time I transition from one site to another, I get a pop-up that takes me away from the page I was on. It interrupts me, but is usually an advertisement related to where I was or my destination. It is becoming REALLY annoying to have to stop and shut it off. MS Essentials hasn't caught it, and AVAST doesn't think its a virus. What is it and how can I stop it? I'm helping a staff member in our office who is unable to call Outlook by clicking a mailto: weblink, Outlook never appears. He is running Win7Pro 32-bit and IE9. When I go to Default programs > Set program access and computer defaults > Custom > Choose a default e-mail program, “Use my current e-mail program” is selected. My user has a Windows XP system. She recently upgraded to IE8 from IE7. Soon after, the web pages were displaying, what I call, primitive graphics. I basically have the same problem with hacking. I have 3 computers. 1 desktop (HP running XP sp2) 1 laptop (HP running XP sp3). These two were taken into a certified computer place to be cleaned out.
