Windows 7 x64 UEFI Repair boot partitions
by Guest Muhammad Khalid Hussain- 0 replies
- 253 views
Hi there everyone, I have installed Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on my laptop which supports booting from UEFI. My harddisk is using the GPT partition scheme and Windows has been installed using a UEFI boot enabled USB drive. Currently I was playing around with the partitions to get another OS installed and for some reason the boot manager has been messed up and now I can't get into Windows. I am typing this from a library computer. I have tried using the same USB disk for repair, but it can't recreate those partitions required for EFI boot it seems. Can someone please tell me how I can recreate the EFI boot required partitions without reinstalling Windows completely? …

The full scan had been progressing slowly, but stopped after almost 5 hours of scanning. I could not cancel it or anything else. The only thing I could do is turn the computer off. It would not allow me to end the task. When I rebooted the computer and went back to MSE, it said the online protection was turned off so I turned it back on. I did a quick scan and all looked well. One other question does my computer have to be one to scan? I usually totally shut it down when I am not on it. Thanks Continue reading...

Migrating XP 32bit users with roaming profiles to Windows 7 64-bit with Folder Redirection
by Guest kcsega- 0 replies

Hello all. I am looking for a nice efficient way to move our users' roaming profiles from Windows XP 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit. We are currently running a Windows 2008 server environment, however, since the roaming profiles are a bit large and cause some issues (some users are using 3 machines with the same profile), we would like to move to a Folder Redirection solution for files (with offline sync if possible) and roaming for just the most basic of settings. Is there anyway to do this without completely rebuilding the profile or taking too much space on the file server? Edit: We are also going to deploy Windows 7 using MDT and WDS if that helps. I'm having trouble applying a image using imagex. I've created 2 partitions as described in the following URL http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ff657749 and pretty much followed the video. I imaged Windows 7 64 and I'm using a 64bit version of WinPe 3.0 if this is relevant. Partition D is where I copied the image too. When I try to imagex /apply D:\install.wim 1 D I'm prompted with the following syntax. the subsystem needed to support the image type is not present. I copied the imagex application into the winpe\iso directory, any help is greatly appreciated. Continue reading...

by Guest TrishThompson- 0 replies

My Dell laptop runs with Windows Vista 64 bit operating system. I do not typically use Internet Explorer 64 because it's just easier to use 32 bit. However, now my computer will not even launch the 64 bit system. Also, when I receive an email with a link, the link will not launch. It use to say can not find Internet Explorer 64 but now it just says application not found. Help. It is a pain sometimes because not all emails have the actual address to copy. Some just say 'click here'. Continue reading...

I have windows vista home premium 64bit. When I try to shut down the computer a screen appears stating that task manager will not shut down while these 2 programs are running. I have tried to search for them, but they can not be found. This has only been happening for 2 days. I just bought a copy of Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate from eBay. I called into Microsoft Geniune Advantage and they told me that the license is for someone with a MSDN subscription which I don't have. My question is if I keep the products and attempt to install both products will I encounter any issues when installing or activating first time or say later on a second installation ? Should I rather return both products to the seller ? Thanks in advance. Victor Continue reading...

by Guest SunilSodah- 0 replies

I ran Microsoft Security Essential and it found a virus and told me to download another software from Microsoft in order to remove the virus completely. I got forwarded to Windows Defender (Beta). I did a mistake for trying a beta version of Microsoft software. It removed something and left my PC is a state that it never starts. It always goes to Startup Repair and just keeps spinning for around 20 minutes and says could not fix please report to Microsoft. First off I Windows 7 is so easily attacked by virus. Next off the tools Microsoft provides harms more then they fix. Very disappointed. Any suggestions to fix the boot problem? Reloading Windows is an option but th…
