Can the user rights/privileges granted to "Local System" and "NT Authority\System" be modified? I did a quick test: 1. Started a cmd.exe using "at" command 2. Ran "whoami /all" to get its privileges 3. Started gpedit.msc and granted "Take ownership of files or other objects" to "System" accnt 4. Restarted PC 5. Started cmd.exe using "at" command 6. Ran "whoami /all" to get its privileges 7. Compared the 2 results and it seems like the "System" account still does not have "Take ownership of files or other objects" privilege Am I not using the right tool to accomplish the task or are the privileges for these 2 accounts implicitly defined and cannot be changed? And…

I have check the option asking the computer to offer to store saved passwords. That part works fine. My User Login Password is complex and cannot be easily guessed by experienced users. There are some websites that do not offer an option to store the password. Can I manually add the website and password to my Stored Password list? I have unsuccessfully searched for a couple of hours to try to find out how to do this. If someone knows the answer please let me know. I am not talking about a network or an Outlook password. Thanks Continue reading...

Hi, I am a home worker and use Office 2010 including Outlook. My company has set up a basic macro in an Excel spreadsheet which tells the computer to send a copy of the spreadsheet to particular email recipients. On all the other 12 employees' machines it throws up a warning message about a program accessing email address information or sending email on their behalf but on mine this does not happen. The problem is that I WANT it to happen so I can save the file WITHOUT sending the email. I have done some troubleshooting, and believe the cause to be MSE. My reason for thinking this is that when I go to Outlook Trust Centre, and click on "Programmatic Access" the optio…

Hello, The following issue is one which I have previously posted to several other forums. The folks in the Group Policy forum told me to redirect it to the Windows MultiPoint Server forum, but seeing as how I haven't gotten any answers there after a week or so, I figured I should post it here too. So here goes... I have some Windows MultiPoint 2011 servers being used in a lab/classroom environment, and I am using Group Policy to tweak quite a few settings. One setting that the lab instructors have asked me to add involves setting multiple home page tabs in IE8. I'm trying to do this via User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Comp…

urgent questions here. I want to change my one (and only) hard disk from MBR to GPT. I decided to backup my stuff and make a system image. I proceeded to do my stuff. After converting to GPT, I went to restore my OS. Question: After restoring, will my hard disk be reset to MBR? Will I lose my partitions? Another question: Can I use a Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit Install DVD to access my system recovery options and restore my 64-bit Windows 7 home premium? Will it be compatible? Does it matter? Thanks a lot Continue reading...

Hi everyone. There is another thread describing my exact scenario, although there appears to have been no attempt offer any suggestions since it was initially posted over two months ago: Contacting Server for Information When Printing Email in Outlook 2010. So I thought I would phrase the question differently and see what anyone might have to say about it. It appears that on our PCs with Windows 7 Professional and MS Office 2010, when a user attempts to print an Email with a web page embedded in the body of the message, a message about "contacting the server for information" appears for upwards of 45 seconds, and then after another two or three minutes, the message fi…

Hello, Our office has 2 servers, 1 is windows 2000 the other 2011 smb essentials. I have about 8 windows 7 machines in the office. They all access both servers without issue. That was until earlier this week. One of the machines began having issues saving to network shares on the server running windows 2011 essentials. The problem started with excel then spread to all programs. I can access the drives fine, no permission issues or lag. I can copy and paste / drag and drop files to the network shares with no lag or issues. It is only when you try to save a file from a program such as notepad, word, excel, etc. directly to the network share does the process either have i…
