BSOD when Microsoft Security Essentials is enabled

Windows version: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 X64 Build String, from WERInternalMetadata.xml: 7601.17640.amd64fre.win7sp1_gdr.110622-1506 I have an application written in pure Java, not running with elevated permissions. It's a data processing library. The tests are multi-threaded and run a ton of threads, and over 2 GB of RAM. When I run it normally, I get a BSOD, or else the whole system hangs. When I run it with MSE disabled, everything works fine. (Technically some tests fail, but that's not Microsoft's fault) This problem happens on two very different computers, both of which are Windows 7 SP1 x64. The application has no GUI component, so I doubt the problems…

Uninstall/reinstall. 4. re-register .dll on c:\program files (x86)\Internet Explorer using regsvr32 (some of them fail to register). 5. nothing is being logged on event viewer. 6. No malware detected.Tried with different kind of antiviruses. Any suggestions? Thank you Continue reading...

Where are the System Tray Customizations stored?
by Guest Curt Finley- 0 replies

I'd like to force all my systems to "Show icon and notifications" for my antivirus software. That way users will be able to see when the icon changes indicating that the AV is no longer working. I've found ways of forcing all icons to show but I'd like to selectively just force this one to show. I know how to force it to show using the "Customize..." system interface but I'd like to force it to happen through a reg hack, group policy or copying a file or something. I've got too many users using too many different systems to run around and manually change it each time a new users logs on. Is there a way of putting this setting in the default profile so it automaticall…

Hi, I think I might be a victim of a scam yesterday Wed 29th I recieved a call after trying the night before to get on to my computer to try to fix a problem that have been on my computer for a few weeks now, asking me to update my windows xp program. I tried the night before and was fustrated because my computer was giving me some problems, I have contacted my bank because I gave them my info and they have cashed the money from my account. My fear is that they have hacked into my computer because I allowed them access to my computer. What should I do if they have not already hacked into my pc. Please help. Continue reading...

Adobe Flash causing problems in Internet Explorer
by Guest earlsnyder- 0 replies
Following an update to Adobe Flash, Internet Explorer Security interrupts every action with repeated requsts for Adobe Flash to access web content and/or make changes to the computer. This is true for every action, whether or not Flash is required for that action. The system is running Windows 7 and IE 9. It appears that the latest version of Adobe Flash has an incompatibility with IE, as the problem was not present before the update. Continue reading...

Hi, I have a 4-year-old Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop with Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. When I turn it on it comes up with the message WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM is corrupt or missing. I have read a few articles about how to fix this but I still have a couple of questions: - I have tried putting in the Dell re-installation CD for Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 in the hope it would load a programme where I could hit 'r' and it would fix everything. However, when I put the disc in my laptop it wont load when I restart the laptop and just goes to the same error screen. Is there away to make the CD load manually? - Should I just tap F8 while booting u…

Good morning, I have two hidden accounts on an image that I am preparing, the local Administrator account and a Technician account. They have been hidden using HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList registry entries. Now the problem exists that I cannot log in to those accounts even manually because it will not allow me to enter the username - Windows will only display the non-hidden account icons. At one time there was an "Other User" icon on the login screen, but it has disappeared. Can anyone tell me how to get the Other User icon to show up again? The computer is not a member of the domain. I do NOT wan…

I am a Blackberry Administrator for a huge Company over 50k Blackberries, we are switching to Outlook 2010 next month so I installed it can anyone tell me how to add back my new email templates that I depend on so much. I have 28 Templates standard Outlook 2003 OFT files, in outlook 2003 I created buttons to launch my templates to speed up the process, when I get a new ticket I would hit my new ticket button which would open a new e-mail pre-filled out with the standard company sanctioned first contact info cut then I would paste the users name and ticket number into the e-mail and hit sent total time maybe 10 seconds. I can’t figure out how to get this functional…

Notice that I need to run a scan
by Guest Marshall Reid- 0 replies

I had MSE scheduled to run once a week as recommended (default) on Sunday. On Monday, I received a notice that I haven't run a scan in a while. I looked at the history and it said it ran the scan, but I figured that I'd run it again anyway. I did, and the message was gone. Until the next day when it showed up again. So I ran the scan again. Message went away. Next day it's back! Why is it telling me that I haven't run a scan in a while when I ran it just the day before? Thanks for any help. Continue reading...

How can I remove software installed by scammers?
by Guest PTMguelph- 0 replies

I spent a few hours today helping a neighbor who was taken in by the Microsoft Support telephone scam. She let them onto her computer and ended up paying them over $200 via credit card. I got her to cancel her credit card and change her email password. Fortunately, she does not keep any financial info on her PC, nor does she bank via internet, so there was nothing to be concerned about there. I went to her house and ran the Microsoft Safety Scanner, which did not turn up anything. I also wanted to remove any newly installed programs. One of these was called PC Performance Booster, which was from Tech2TechSupport and which my neighbor told me she saw them ins…
