I have microsoft security essentials, windows XP and internet 8. My computer is set for full scan every Sunday at 2.a.m. Every couple of weeks, the icon turns orange and tells me I am "potentially unprotected" and need to run a scan. So I run a quick scan. Windows reports an installation failure for an update that has been on my computer for a week. Each time the update attempt is initiated, Windows indicates the update failed and lists error code 8007371B. The update is security related and it's ID is KB2641653. I have an HP Printer (fax, scan ...) connected via ethernet. 2 Windows 7 machines on network. When I use the installed "Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8600" printer driver to fax from Notedpad, Word, or just 'Print Test Page' from it's properties dialog, the job is cancelled after "spooling..." for a minute. This problem happens happens on all ADDITIONAL accounts created on Windows 7 Professional. The PRIMARY ADMIN account (first account created after install) works just fine. Hi guys, Two days, two issues, joy... We have a group of computers that allow users to plug in USB Devices (data sticks) and it installs the drivers without prompting them for administrator credentials. However, on 4 of these 20 machines it prompts the user to enter administrator credentials and we can't figure out why. We've checked Local Policies, Group Policies, USBStor.ini file, groups the users are in, groups the computers are in, we can't find anything that is different between a machine it works on and a machine it doesnt. Hi, First of all, I'm using Windows XP SP 3 with Internet Explorer 6. When I try to open a url file (InternetShortcut) via cmd (iexplore.exe c:\my_url.url), I get the "File Download" pop up with the message "Do you want to open or save this file". Needless to say - I want to open it - it's a url file... I've tried so far: - open gpedit.msc and add url to the inclusion list for low file types and moderate risk file types. - In the File types tab, under Folder Options, I unchecked the "Confirm open after download". - In the IE security tab, I changed each prompt to Enabled.
