I use Microsoft Security Essentials. Once or twice a day I download and install all important and recommended updates. Yesterday I installed K2310138 (Definition 1.123.62.0). Today it tells me that there are no uddates available for my machine. Never has it gone over 30 hours without a recomended update. I have encountered this problem on this machine (Windows7 Home Premium) and on my other computer (Windows Vista) so I believe that the problem is either with the recent updates or at the Microsoft server. Are others experiencing similar difficulties? Any suggestions? Continue reading...

My Microsoft Security Essentials says that my definitions are out of date - Virus and spyware definitions: 1.123.62.0 I have tried multiple times to "update" but it just searches (twice) and stops and tells me they are out of date. I'm not getting an error code or anything. If it is out of date is there a way to download manually? Any help would be much appreciated. I am having the same problem....today my numbers are also 1.123.62.0 is there a problem with Security Essentials or is this ok...is there someone to notify???? my clock is ok Ele Continue reading...

This problem started with IE8 (or maybe 7) but is still present in 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Internet Explorer. I have the browser configured to prompt me when a site wants to write a cookie, and also to prompt when entering or leaving a secure site. At times, a security prompt and a cookie prompt will both appear, but it is impossible to respond to either. Sometimes using Task Manager to kill one of the iexplore.exe processes will free things, but more often it is necessary to kill "iexplore.exe" processes one by one until the entire browser shuts down. Has this been reported before and can it be fixed? Continue reading...

Every 3 years we update our computers. With Windows XP we have never had an issue. We use DriveClone Pro by farstone to clone our computers. We setup a "master" computer with the OS settings and user profile setting we like, backup the partition and restore to the new computers. Usually around 130 computers. With Windows XP after re imaging you just ran sysprep and it allowed you type in the COA License for that machine and you were good to go. When running SYSPREP on Windows 7 it makes you create a user. When you type the username it says this account already exist. So you have to create another user name. Then go back in and delete the newly created user. Is there …

I'm looking for some kind of "official" Microsoft documentation or TechNet article explaining the proper process for injecting Windows Updates / Hotfixes into a Windows WIM image to allow me to deploy a version of windows that already has all (or at least most) of the current windows updates. Does anyone know if such a document exists? Or perhaps someone from Microsoft can respond to this post with some well documented steps on how I would accomplish this? Thanks! Continue reading...
