Environment : Windows 7 64-bits I'm using MDT 2010 for the deployment of Windows 7 in my school. A software that we use require a dll. If I use the following command under a classic command prompt it doesn't work: regsvr32 msstdfmt.dll /s. Actually, I need to use a cmd as Administrator for this work. I created a new application in MDT to deploy a script that will copy the dll file in the local system then I try to run the command to register the dll but the registration doesn't work. How can I force the command to be run as Administrator? Or, is there any other solution? Thanks in advance for your help, Continue reading...

We have created an "administrative" installation for Office 2010. We specifically did NOT install the Microsoft SharePoint Workspace. We do NOT want this item installed. After installing SP1, we are frustrated that the Microsoft SharePoint Workspace was installed without our knowledge, ignoring how we had Office 2010 installed via our custom administrative installation. (What was the point of making an administrative installation if the service pack ignores your choices?) I've seen other posts here on this, but I've not seen an acceptable answer about this. Why would SP1 upgrade something that did NOT previously exist and is there a way to tell SP1 to NOT install S…

It seems Microsoft currently is not accepting Office bug reports at connect.microsoft.com website, so I am posting this bug report here (maybe someone can point me to a more appropriate place for that?). I have Office 2010 Pro Plus 64-bit installed. Microsoft SharePoint Workspace was NOT installed (only Excel, PowerPoint, Word and some features from "Office Shared Features" and "Office Tools" were installed). If I run Office setup from Control Panel->Programs and Features to reconfigure Office installation I can see that "Microsoft SharePoint Workspace" feature has a red cross, i.e. - not installed. But after applying Office 2010 SP1 (officesuite2010sp1-kb2460049-x64-…

My battery died yesterday in my pocket. I plugged it in when I got home and when I turned it on it wont get past the KIN boot animation with all of the pictures of people. I have tried several of the solutions suggested on many sites and none of them have worked. I don't have an upgrade and the phone is almost two years old so I don't have a warranty on it. So long way of saying I am phoneless until August when I a get an upgrade. Any assistance would be a great help as the losers at the verizon store couldn't help, but that is a rant for another day. Thanks Continue reading...

Microsoft Security Essentials detected trojan win 32/fakesysdef on our computer. It then asked if we wanted to delete it. Of course I answered yes and then it said it had to restart our computer which it did. When the computer started back up there is nothing left on our computer. No programs documents, icons etc. Why did this happen and how can we get all our information back. If we don't have any of our stuff we might as well have let the virus infect our computer. An employee has been logging onto his machine locally and creating various shortcuts, saved files, etc. on the local account he uses as well as installing and using a variety of design/engineering software. We run AD and he already has a domain acct on the local machine which he has used in the past, he just doesn't use it. Long story. Anyway, he is having issues accessing shared domain resources and connecting to Exchange etc. is slow and tedious because he is constantly having to pass his credentials to the server as he's not logged onto the domain with his AD name. I could log on as a third, different (administrator) locally and simply move his users folder from hi…

The subject pretty much says it all. I've got a clean install of Office 2010 32bit on Windows 7 32bit, and the Send to OneNote 2010 printer does not appear. When I go through the steps to manually add it, the SendToOneNote port does not exist. I do have the XPS printer in place. I've tried reinstalling and the printer simply does not show up. Thanks for any help :-) David F. Continue reading...

I recently purchased Windows 7 Home Premium Full from the Microsoft store and downloaded the 32-bit ISO. The download completed successfully however when I attempt to use the USB/DVD download tool, after selecting the iso in step 1 and hitting next I get the error "The selected file is not a valid ISO file. Please select a valid ISO file and try again". I've used the USB/DVD download tool in the past (to try out the Windows 8 preview) so I know the tool is installed fine and works on this PC. And I also know the ISO downloaded successfully? Is the microsoft store serving up invalid ISOs? Continue reading...

I have a retail copy of Office 2010 that I purchased a couple of years ago (it is the upgrade version from the retail Office 2007 that I also purchased). I had it installed on the max of 3 devices (all mine - I require the use of multiple computers for my business). I just purchased a brand new laptop and I uninstalled the MS Office 2010 from my old laptop I was replacing. I have been trying to install MS Office 2010 onto my new laptop using the backup CD I ordered (I got the online/download version from the Microsoft Office Store). It will not even allow me to do the install - It requires me to enter my product key prior to install and when I do so, it tells me my produ…

New hard drive installed. Was not receiving emails but could send. Have ATT server with yahoo mail but used Windows Live mail. Thought problem was solved via ATT tech support on the phone. Next day found out that could now receive but not send. Finally going thru numerous ATT sites found two with suggested changed in settings. However, each was different. Tried one and did not help. Tried second and I was able to send and receive. Next day had messages from friends questioning a strange email with links I had sent to them. Had not even been in email that day. Then successfully sent to everyone on my email contacts list for 3 days. Finally went through ATT and they helped…
