I'm trying to use MS Security Essentials on a Windows XP platform. I had previously removed the program, downloaded it again, but when I try to access it I get this message: "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I had previously used PC Tools, but my subscription ran out and I want to use MS Security Essentials. I am receiving e-mails from what is supposed to be Microsoft regarding spam in my account. The last time I responded to what was supposed to be one of your e-mails I was hacked. I have such an environment: Windows XP pro SP3 english version, installed with Japanese language package. Control panel->region and language->Advanced tab, choose Japanese as the language that non-Unicode program use. I have some files, whose name containes double byte Janapnese characters. In Windows explorer, the file name displays correctly. In command prompt, dir command displays the file name correctly, while ls command displays the file names in corruption. I am wondering why ? Hi, I am currently working on my first deployment project and have most of the main elements in place, tested and tweaked. I am now refining the deployment process for maximum automation. I am trying to include a 'Run Command Line' within the Task Sequence for the LTI deployment of Windows 7 x64 so that at end of the install I can kick-start a few other little tasks that have to be completed on the target machine before handing it to the user. However, at the end of the deployment when the Run Command Line tries to run, the 'Installation Process' on the target machine halts/freezes and leaving the message "Running action: Run Command Line" in the 'Installation Process' …

A message that popped up from Security Essentials, said something to the effect that my Windows installation did not pass authentication or validation. It also said to go online to fix this or else Security Essentials would stop protecting within 30 days. When I went online Windows asked my permission to install an add on. My hotmail accounts security has been compromised by hotmail maintenance people. Now my account is coming up in urdu or Arabic language and it is purposely being done. Hi, I'm on Windows 7 and have been using MSE for well over a year. Recently, I've noticed my computer running at a sluggish pace and tried to do a scan, but the MSE window closes the instant it opens. Icon vanishes from my toolbar as soon as I move my cursor over it. This also happens when I try to scan individual items. Uninstalled and re-installed it with same problem. I am a County employee who uses MS Office and often need to take work home. I recently purchased Office Professional 2010 under the Home Use Program. It was purchased online, downloaded and installed but I did get a CD copy by mail afterward. Ten days ago the HDD on my home PC died and was replaced.
