I have iolo system mechanic and it has a system gaurd that monitors processes, etc. and from what i know about anti-virus software a computer will operate slower if there are two anti-virus softwares on a computer. the iolo system gaurd is not an anit-virus it is system repair software whereas MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) is a Anti-virus Etc. and MSE has Realtime protection and it looks somewhat similar to what iolo system mechanic's system gaurd is doing also. I just recently installed win8, but the problem is, before (win7) I use to type the password and give it to my son (age 9) so he can play and can not change the password, but in win8, when i typed the password, and left the computer with my son, after two days he told me that I have changed the password of not only his local account but also hotmail account, than he showed me that if user dont know the login password, than how they can change the password without knowing the current password. I'm trying to Download Internet Explorer 8 on my PC. I had it before but recently had to take the PC to be wiped and reload the operating system. The guys at the store loaded IE9, which I cannot use for school or work applications. I went through the steps to uninstall IE9 and my IE reverted to IE7, which I don't want either. S.M.A.R.T. CHECK suddenly popped up on my computer screen with waves of this saying. SYSTEM MESSAGE- WRITE FAULT ERROR. It's taken over my computer. Somehow a search engine re-director got into my wife's laptop that sends searches to "Info Mash". MSE has been in operation on all of our PC's since it was first released and until now has performed well. MSE is set to upgrade the definitions and run a full scan of all drives, removables included, every night at about 2:00am. Apparently MSE failed to stop it from it from getting in and now that it is resident, fails to detect or remove the issue.
