I have win 7 retail 32 bit installed and have a DVD of 64bit, can I upgrade to 64bit CPU and format and use 64bit OS with no problems with licence. I also have windows 7 pro upgrade activation code although I do not use it. Also will ther be any problems with my office 2007 - also installed on my laptop as this is a OEM. Thank you . I am using Microsoft Security Essentials as my only virus protection. I have Vista Home Premium and IE9. When I start up my computer MSE works for a while and then stops working. I see that by the icon changing from green to orange. I then type in services.msc in the search box. Then enter and then then right click on microsoft antimalware and then click on Properties. Under service status I click on stop. It shows stop and then I click on start and MSE starts working again. It works for another 15 to 30 minutes and stops again. In Windows 7 my Mouse Pointer falls behind Windows Media Center when it on full screen with the result being that I cannot see my mouse pointer when I want to highlight a command.I can,though,still manuever the mouse pointer ,eventhough it is under the screen,until I see a command highlighted but this takes a lot of time since I blindly have to keep moving it until it highlights what I want it to. The most relevant detaqil is that I'm practically computor illiterate! When I first got the computor it came with 1 month of Norton. I installed that and when the month was up I tried to install MSE. I have followed the instructions given in reply to previous questions for dealign with error message DNS server not responding (checking ipconfig eg). Problem persists connection keeps dropping. Using Windows 7 Professional 64. Prob may be with drivers for Dell Wireless 5540. Have downloaded driver but unable to install b/c of authentication failure. Any suggestions, pls? My machine is running 32bit version of Windows 7 and I am considering upgrading it to 64bit system. I had run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, the result showed that the system needs at least 2GB of RAM (the result is uploaded in the Skydrive link https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=CD59C312432E2341!110). My concern is, apart from the RAM requirement, what else do I need to look into before I spend for the upgrade.
