I'm running Windows 7 and had Microsoft Security Essentials installed from the start - Jan '11 ish. A couple of months ago MSE stopped working as well as refused to be installed or uninstalled due to not being able to find something related to the Microsoft Security Client. This coincided with downloading some other software from a site that wasn't as reliable as I first thought, hence I think is the work of a virus. I have been using AVG since then but the trial just ran out. AVG didn't find any viruses. I have tried manually uninstalling as described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2435760#LetMeFixItMyselfAlways, but this didn't work out. In particular …

I am having problems with toshiba flash card popping up on my desktop and staying there. It says flash cards, not reponding, but I can't get rid of it. Is this utility really necessary for my computer to function properly? How can I get this off of my desktop? View this thread

File contains virus and been removed-I receive this message every time I try to download a file from any site. A few days ago the Microsoft Security Essentials automatic update of virus database stopped working . I tried to download the update from Microsoft but I received the same "file contains virus" message. I eventually downloaded it from another computer and run it on my computer. WinDVD has appeared on screen since attaching a Samsung digi camera. after clicking as told the following message appears 'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable' ALL efforts to remove or rectify have failed. Error 1706 is displayed on screen Unable to swich off pc correctly as the WinDVD installer appears again What have I done? What do I do to get back to normal? Windows 7 Family 3-Pack Activation I purchased Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack 3x. I had it installed on 3 computers but one computer is no longer in use. I installed the OS on another computer but I can not activate it because it thinks all 3 copies of the install are still working. Greetings my most intelligent companions, I just found out that there is an upgrade for Windows Media Player 12, yes I'm most likely coming to the party late, please forgive me.Now I'm fery interested in upgrading to 12, my version is what came with my system when it was purchased 2 years ago. All my windows files now are not recognized - as I don't have correct software? I deleted it, trying to clear space on my hardrive - but I in fact needed that software: whereas my computer said I didn't... I think the software was called: windows basic service pack 2003, though I am not sure - and cannot find that download. We have just changed from XP to WIndows 7 and one of our Account Supervisors are finding it different to work with. In Excel in the number format you can't format negative numbers in red and ( ). You can set up a custom but then you have to set it up for all documents. You can set up a Macro which he did but it is an additional step. In Accounting this is a normal practice to you brackets around negative numbers. He has found in Power Point that was created in Office 7 on XP is he embedded a spreadsheet worked on it then came out it would automatically autosize the sheet back to fit the slide on his new machine if he works with the embedded spreadsheet it doesn…

I have a a6410t HP PC. I clicked on CONTROL PANEL-PERSONALIZATION-ADJUST FONT SIZE (DPI) - CUSTOM DPI entered 206 ,clicked on APPLY and restarted PC.. But the size of the font increased the window size so much that I can't get to the bottom where the CUSTOM DPI AND apply buttons are so I can make it small again. I am on Windows XP sp 3. After my wife switched off the pc half way during power down, I have not been able to update properly. I kept getting updates offered repeatedly even though they were shown as installed correctly. I then had an upgrade to Silverlight which seemed to install fine. The next time I went to Windows update, it just froze and I had to ctl alt delete to cancel it as it was not responding. I have tried Mr. FIXIT with no success. I recently bought a refurbished Latitude D430 and partitioned the HDD but in "My Computer" was an icon for a CD Drive (F). As the D430 doesn't have a CDDVD Drive, I assume a USB drive was connected to install the OS and software and then removed. Can anyone please tell me how to delete the "phantom" Cd drive, as I need to use the F for my partitioning. I've deleted it in Device Manager but it remains in Computer and when I reboot the computer it is back in Device Manager still with an explanation mark and a fault indicated. Hi All, I have a customer who has a large number of laptops which they have purchased Office 2010 Professional OEM for. Rather than "PreLoad" Office OOBE and Starter and all the rest I would like to "PreInstall" Just 2010 Pro so when the client gets it all they need to do is put the differing key in and away they go. does anyone know if this can be done? i know it is possible with Pro Plus but I can find out the way to do it with Pro OEM, some documentation leadds me to belive it can be done and I recall seeing big OEM resellers (dell, lenovo) doing it this way too.
