Despite its sudden ubiquity as a buzzword, generative AI is in its relative infancy as a technology. Keeping up to date on daily innovations is a challenge for any business or individual, regardless of your role. The results speak for themselves, however, as a recent study commissioned by Microsoft and conducted by Forrester Consulting revealed that Microsoft Azure AI customers have collectively enjoyed a 284 percent ROI over 3 years. Whether you’re a business decision maker, a developer, a data scientist, or anything in-between, Microsoft is hard at work developing tools and resources to make your generative AI learning journey …

Due to the potential impact on performance and storage costs, Azure Databricks clusters don't capture networking logs by default. Follow the below instructions if you need to capture tcpdump to investigate multiple networking issues related to the cluster. These steps will capture a TCP dump on each cluster node--both driver and workers during the entire lifetime of the cluster. IMPORTANT: Make sure to remove the tcpdump init script from the cluster once you generate the tcpdump to avoid performance and additional cost. Configure a cluster-scoped init script for the cluster (s) in question Run a cluster-scoped init script in the notebook from the cluste…

We have long heard from Outlook users and organization IT admins that the fragmented experience of Outlook across platforms is painful and frustrating. With the new Outlook for Windows, we are bringing a more consistent and robust experience with rapid access to new features, so our users are empowered to use Outlook the way they like, with the best tools at their fingertips. Part of this effort is making sure that the add-ins platform and deployment experience is consistent across Outlook endpoints, and that add-ins are supported reliably for end users. In the new Outlook for Windows, web add-ins are fully supported, with no additional work required from partners. CO…

Data integration allows applications to move, process, or transform data across multiple systems as part of their micro-service architecture. Data integration is the first step in supporting data collection to allow business applications to learn and build insights from that data. While you can accomplish data integration in several ways, in this blog post I'll focus on how to use Azure Logic Apps to move data to an Azure Database for MySQL flexible server. This solution automates data integration tasks performed in response to API calls. Consider the following architecture: Figure: Using Azure Logic Apps to move data i…

Heya folks, Ned here again. Beginning in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25977 (Canary Channel), SMB over QUIC now supports access control for clients. Today I’ll explain how this works, what the advantages are, and how to set it up. SMB over QUIC SMB over QUIC introduced an alternative to TCP and RDMA, supplying secure connectivity to edge file servers over untrusted networks like the Internet. QUIC has significant advantages, the largest being mandatory certificate-based encryption instead of relying on passwords. SMB over QUIC offers an "SMB VPN" for telecommuters, mobile device users, and high security organizations. The server certificate creates …

We’ve seen huge interest from organizations that want to use Azure OpenAI service to access Large Language Models (LLMs) in combination with their own data. Allowing these applications to access your organization’s knowledge base allows inclusion of data relevant to the conversation, creating a richer and more useful experience. However, this introduces new problems if the Generative AI application isn't aware of any access control requirements. We’ve recently updated the Cognitive Search OpenAI Demo to allow user login and access control, which enables the Generative AI application to tailor responses on a per-user basis.
