Since yesterday after i got the february updates on my both 64bit pc and laptap windows defender is not updating i run a check with windows update and it tells me its up to date and its the same when i go and click the update button in windows defender. Hi, I recently bought a Lenovo IdeaCenter with MacAfee installed. When the trial period expired I decided not to subscribe and decided to use Defender. Initially I could not even get into the Action Center because MacAfee overrode it. I uninstalled it completely via the control panel. I can now get into the Action Center but I cannot turn on the either the anti virus section or the unwanted software section (syas it can't do it right now, try again later). I keep getting alerts from AVG that it's finding "Win32/ZPerm" always seems to be in a temp directory. I've run HiJackthis and nothing found, I've run Anti-Malware and still nothing. I downloaded AdAware Anti-Virus and nothing was found either. I've read this was a previous issue with AVG, but threads date back to 2009. This just started occurring the last couple of days. I have need to schedule ToDo's. The example today is I need to pay the state sales tax for my corporation. It is due Jan 20'th or so each year. What I want is: The ability to check it off as completed The ability to have it repeat The ability to remind me multiple times before the date. e.g. two weeks before, a week before, two days before, and on the day its due iCal has #2 and #3 but not #1. Reminders has #1 and #2 but not (that I can find) #3. I'm on 10.8 still. My wife's iMac is running 10.6.8. I would like to upgrade her to Mavericks and have already prepared a thumb drive with DiskMaker X. As part of the process, I would like to create a recovery partition to use in emergencies going forward. My tentative process is Back up! Boot from an external disk. Part of previous step is a SuperDuper! (SD) update. Erase the internal disk. Run Mavericks installer from thumb drive. This is a "clean" install due to the previous step, so it's supposed to offer to create a recovery partition. My daughter sends me videos in both emails and messages, but after I click to download them, I can never find them. I did a search for all mov files with EasyFind today and found them, but can't seem to get to them in Finder. I'm wanting to create an alias on my desktop to be able to access them quickly. Yes, I can use "Reveal in Finder", but why can't I use Finder and just follow the path to them? They show as Pegs>Library>Mail> and etc. I immediately run into a block at Library. I have nothing excluded in Time Machine Preferences. My backup external drive failed about a year ago: I replaced it and backups continued. Had to restore an application recently: found the applications folder in Time Machine was empty, however far back I went. Does Time Machine know that I replaced the backup drive? If not, perhaps /applications has not been backed up since nothing has changed since I replaced the drive - ? But I have been told that the backup information is stored on the backup drive, so Time Machine should know that the drive was replaced and do a full backup as the first one - ? I have Conky setup and it is detecting at eth0, an incoming stream of data at about 200kbps. Searching around the net, I installed IPTraf to see if I could determin what/where is the stream coming. What IPTraf shows is a constant traffic that seems to initiate as 0.0.0.0:68 and gets an answer from an internal IP on our network. Without going into too much detail, I have several Minecraft servers running on a physical dedicated CentOS server over a single IP. To make administration easier, I have a startup script for each server instance. I have multiple server directories, each containing a server.jar with the same name. The script launches each server.jar in a uniquely named screen session. So while the .jar has the same name, it comes from a different directory, and has its own uniquely named screen session. I really enjoy running Ubuntu 13.10 but since installing the OS i cannot get a sound out of my internal speakers on my laptop. I didn't mind this so much because i could use my headphones or external speakers. But since i booted up the machine this morning nothing works sound wise. I did open a terminal and typed: alsamixer and noticed straight away that at the bottom of each column there was a double M (MM). Is there anyway i could un-mute these columns, anyone please?
