My computer got infected with Cryptorbit virus. I tried two programs to remove it to no avail. The software (I used Malwarebytes and one from Ahnlab) kept saying there is no virus in my computer. I tried to use the Security Essentials, but the virus seems to stop it from opening. I tried Restore, which did not work, either. Any help from anybody here? Thank you so much in anticipation! I have a new Surface Windows RT (not 8.1) and I'm unable to connect to my existing wireless printer over my home wireless network. The printer (Brother MFC-J625JW) is listed as a Windows RT compatible printer by both Microsoft and Brother. My printer is on, visible to my Windows 7 laptop via the wifi network, and works normally. The Surface is connected to the same network. I've entered the Windows Control Panel > Add a device. The printer doesn't appear in the list. In fact, the only thing that (momentarily) appears in the list is someone else's PC - but not my printer. How do I get the Surface to find my wireless printer that appears to be working normally fr…

I have the original Surface that came out and it has the latest updates. I have Kaplan videos that I watch. The screen to play the videos pops up and I can hear the video but I cant see the videos. I made sure that my shockwave player and all that good stuff was enabled but still not working properly. I bought the surface because I thought it would be easier to study with it and watch my kaplan videos wherever I am at since its lighter than a laptop but it has proven quite useless. HELP Continue reading...

Seems like alot of people have this problem. It's been happening to me I think for the last month or so. I'm using a pretty old and shaky Win XP Home. I had Avast, and Comodo firewall, then about a year ago I uninstalled them ( used the uninstall utility I think) and installed MSE (and use windows firewall), after getting BSOD help in this thread http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-system/bsod-help-please/e9c32b57-9a60-44f6-b684-dd38fe182064 I flashed my bios and that solved my bsod issues. Pretty sure this high cpu issue is fairly recent. I tried this advice I found Now go to your Microsoft Security Essentials, click on the "Set…

Hello I have faced several issues with my onboard Ethernet card in Windows 8. onboard Ethernet card is disabled and I am using PCI Ethernet card for my Internet connection. But the thing is that the onboard Ethernet card sends packet and somehow shut down the whole network after a while. I didn't have this problem with the previous versions of Windows (Like Windows 7). I was wondering if I could get some feedback about the source of this problem and possible solutions. Best Regards Kasra Continue reading...

Hello! I have been frequently getting the BSOD off-late with the same error code at random times while using my laptop... often while in the middle of something important. I have noticed that this surfaced mainly after I ungraded my RAM from the default 4 GB and added an additional 4 GB DDR3. Although I think for the first few weeks, everything was fine. My DMPs from the Minidump folder as well the sysinfo file is uploaded at https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=B5D0E9D3B43E45B6!124&authkey=!APTLmIM-AvoDkRU&ithint=folder%2c for further reference. I have a Toshiba Satellite running windows 8 and right from when i got it I had a problem where every time it updated my computer it wouldn't boot the next time. It would start up and show the Toshiba logo, then it would be black for a while, then the screen would start flickering. It would turn off for 2 seconds, then it would turn on, but be completely black for 2 seconds and it would just keep flipping back and forth like this forever and nothing else would happen. So I had to reboot it in safe mode and do a system restore. After that I disabled updates for a long time. Just yesterday i decided to give it another try and i had around 70 updates pending, so i updated th…

I am having issues connecting to the internet on my Cybertron Desktop PC with Windows 8. It has had problems connecting to the network before, but now it will not connect at all. I have a wireless card that I know works (as it was connected to the internet just two days ago), but it keeps saying that it cannot connect to the network. I can see the various networks, and I know the password is right. I have reset the modem AND router. I have hard-wired my computer in and it can connect to the internet, but for some reason will not connect wireless. I have uninstalled the drivers and re-installed them. I have done a system restore to before any downloads I have done, yet the…

First I want to say that I'm on a very limited fixed income which is why you will see that I'm trying to do these things as cheap as possible. I have a Dell D620 Latitude laptop, fairly old but all I have. Right now I am able to get online with an old hard drive. The hard drive that goes in here has Windows XP Pro. The XP program had gotten extremely slow and a friend took it to a friend who charged me 50.00 to basically do a dirty re-install of the XP pro o/s but now nothing works. My son bought me a Windows 7 Home w/SP1. I am well aware of what I need to do to install this W7 o/s correctly. My problem is that I'm not sure if my system has the needed graphics driv…

I have a Sandisk Cruzer Glide that's only a few months old. I just found that it became "write protected" on it's own, and I don't know why. Yes, I already contacted Sandisk and am scheduled to send it back for replacement. My question is: I have found a few "how to's" on the internet and both of the ones I checked out talk about in the Registry Editor HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Control; there is supposed to be a folder named: StorageDevicePolicies. I have 2 HP notebook computers, 1 with Windows 7 Professional and the other with Windows 8. I've been in both Regedits and can't find this folder. Why is this? And where can I fi…
