I noticed my firewall needed updating and i wasnt using the recommended settings when I clicked on the "use recommended settings" button it comes up with "Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error code:0x80070433 I googled how to get rid of it and people were saying go to services and click Windows Firewall then change it from disabled to automatic but it wasnt in my services so i found this other website saying to download Fix It and that would get rid of the problem(the download name was: MicrosoftFixit.WindowsFirewall.RNP.159315890571186421.7.1.Run.exe I downloaded it from this site: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_firewall_diagnostic/ now i…

Seems like alot of people have this problem. It's been happening to me I think for the last month or so. I'm using a pretty old and shaky Win XP Home. I had Avast, and Comodo firewall, then about a year ago I uninstalled them ( used the uninstall utility I think) and installed MSE (and use windows firewall), after getting BSOD help in this thread http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-system/bsod-help-please/e9c32b57-9a60-44f6-b684-dd38fe182064 I flashed my bios and that solved my bsod issues. Pretty sure this high cpu issue is fairly recent. I tried this advice I found Now go to your Microsoft Security Essentials, click on the "Set…

I am taking packet data and using libpcap pcap inject method to pass the packet onto another network. This works fine but the mac address in the packet changes to that of the local device been used to relay the packet. Tracing through the libpcap code the inject method calls the standard send() socket method, but from there I loose track of the calls which are updating the mac address. Where in the Linux code is the send() method? and does anybody know what I would need to do to prevent the mac address been over written in the packet. Thanks in advance Continue reading...

The Synology Diskstation DS1513+ is network attached storage (NAS) appliance that can be used for, among other things, Time Machine backups, media storage, and more. With 5 drive bays and 4 ethernet ports, it can scale up to 20TB and move it around at Gigabit speeds. There're also 4x USB, 2x USB 3, 2x eSATA, and support for Synology Hybrid RAID, RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10, and a bunch of other stuff like VM, LDAP, iTunes Server, and more. So, what's it like? It's really meant for small business use or, for people like me, home office use. My quick take is that the Synology Diskstation DS1513+ is way more appliance than I'll need in terms of functionality, but exactly what…
