I just had my LCD screen replaced, and when I got my laptop back, I realized all apps were completely gone--the Start screen showed the background I selected, my picture, and nothing else. I used the "Refresh" option for Win 8, and that caused there to be two apps in the Start screen: Desktop and Store. The store app DOES NOT work. when I click on it, it flips like it's going to start, then it goes back to the start screen. Nothing at all happens. During the refresh, SEVERAL programs were deleted, including important-looking ones like "Settings" for my Samsung laptop and "Windows Driver Package - Samsung Electronics Co. My niece's HP Envy dv7 hard drive is on it's last leg. I am going to replace it soon. Problem is, I cannot find the Win 8 product key. I have read up and find the key is embedded in the BIOS. My questing is: when I reinstall Win 8 will it automatically insert the key from the BIOS? I also need to find a copy of Win 8, 64 bit to use, as she doesn't have any recovery disks. In the past I've found img copy of Win 7, 64 bit online and it worked fine. Is there a img of Win 8 64 bit? I think the main problem is the product key. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. I have been using my Windows 8 tablet for school last year, and last year I was in Biology, and now I am not in biology but it still recommends suggestions from my last year class. For example, if I type "The" in the mail app using the touch screen keyboard, the next word that it suggests is diploid. This is really annoying since I am not in biology and I am not interested in biology. Where is the cache for the suggestions stored and if its safe to delete. Unfortunately, I have had to re install my operating system. When being prompted for a computer name, I entered something that was different from the previous computer name. Consequently, my backup program restored all files to a user name from the previous computer setup ( the previous computer name). Not to sure what to do here. This means that there are 2 sets of 'my documents' available. I did try to change the name back to the previous name and then restore my backup to that, but it just created a sub-directory inside of the new name. Is there a way to change the name so that it is recognised by my backup software as being where it copied the original files fr…

ok, I got kids playing on my laptop and one of the game's they play is wartunes and it as facebook and twitter links. I have facebook and twitter blocked but I have allowed www.kabam.com. befor it would just block the links and everything worked ok. now it gets to log in page then the page has that block sign down the middle of the screen. if I unblock it they can get on to facebook and twitter and the game works fine. what do I do to fix this is it my settings ? or is it on microsoft's end ? please help ! if need more information please let me know and I will post it or e mail you. thank you oh, almost forgot I got another computer that is running windows …

Continue getting blue screen errors for a few weeks now. Have reinstalled Windows 7 64bit 3 times now. Reinstall all my programs, and still get a BSOD error every time. Ran windows memory checker and also memtest iso bootup and all came back clean. Decided to buy RAM anyways to check, reinstall new RAM last night and still got a BSOD error. The only cleaning systems I have is AVG and Iolo. I'll post the errors I get from Event Viewer and could greatly use some help. Hello, I have 2 computers running Windows 8, that have the McAfee antivirus software about to run out. I understand I can count on Windows Defender, and Windows Security Essentials to protect my machines. That is what I would like to do. My question is how to correctly un install the McAfee program. Is it as simple as going to the Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a program. Or should I turn off all McAfee stuff in the Action Center first. Should I be online, or offline when I do this? Hello, My PC is infected with something called kenshyexuo, it isn’t detected AVAST (Up-to-Date) Initially my flash drive was infected with – it has shortcuts of document rather than the file it self, I was removing by deleting all shortcuts in windows – Shift + Del and then going to cmd and attrib -h -r -s /s /d F:\*.* - which revealed kenshyexuo. Adobe deny this Search Protect program by Conduit was downloaded with the updates. This is the only installation that could be responsible. It took another Malware program to remove the conduit Malware - including whatever was blocking the Control panel uninstall for the program. I made my annual visit to Adobe to update some files, and found a grim notice. They are shutting down their Workspaces feature at the end of 2014 and advising all users to copy out anything we want to keep. I didn't read all the fine print, but I suspect they're moving to a subscription model. The "free" model doesn't appeal much to the bean counters. So I have to find another way to display PDF's on a website. I don't need a load of frills - basically just a way to move from page to page. I tried Google-Docs, but the resolution sucks. I had such a very bad day today, trying to install Linux on my new laptop. First, it's very annoying trying to start Linux from my USB flash drive. No matter what I do, it always starts with Windows 8. I even have trouble getting into BIOS setup as Windows 8 automatically loads itself.
