I always feel as though these things are like an AA meeting :) So with that ... Hi, I'm Andy, and I'm a Windows user. (I do try to quit, but it never quite works out.) I've been in IT for longer than I can remember, but I'm finally starting to take more than a passing interest in the Windows Server side of things, specifically 2008 R2, which I'm using the rather nice 180-day trial of right now. I've got some experience of Windows Server 2003 Standard, but only really in a workgroup environment. I've managed to get 2008 R2 configured in a test domain environment with little to no trouble, but I know I'm going to be running into problems, and this site seems lik…

Yep, it was far cheaper to get an HP laptop with the Adobe CS4 suite via an educational package than to get a new Mac laptop so I did. 18 year Mac veteran (I'm an art director) but now also using Vista. So far, I love it. Best advice I've had... disable auto-updates from Microsoft.. Vista for Dummies is awesome (as is AskWoody.com, the author) I've had zero problems. Best thing about Vista (working in Windows) for me so far? The free apps like FileZilla that work 100% perfectly and provide what I need instead of having to buy numerous small apps. Hello everyone

Jeff here. This forum looks really nice. I have many years experience in the field so i hope i can be a part of the forum here and add something myself, learn some things as well! I have been browsing this forum as well as three others but decided to register on this one because it looked more relaxed. I have been out of tech for a while though getting personal affairs done and just life. Semi-retired and looking forward to sharing and getting back into it. I noticed some threads still on the board are older? like very old. Nonetheless looks like a very cool place to hang out!

Hi, sometimes I waste a lot of time trying to solve a problem myself, sometimes I get lucky and figure it out. Once in a while I use help and actually find the answer I'm looking for. and when I'm feeling really dumb I call MSN tech support and waste an hour listening to a well meaning person read of a script that turns out to be all the things I've already tried anyway. Anywho- hope I can find some answers here, Jim

Sometimes you may find that a file is too large to post normally or you may have multiple files to post. The answer to this is to Attach them. Type your reply first in the reply box and then click on the Upload a File button. On the next screen, navigate to the file you need to attach. Clicking on the file will select it for attaching. For demonstration purposes we'll select the fixlist. The file will now be added to your reply box. Click on Post Reply. To attach multiple files: If more than one file needs to be attached..... Instead of clicking on Post Reply, click on Upload a File again and repeat the process. Then when all the fil…

My name is Wayne Popin and I am visiting this site to see if nayone has ever been able to "turn off" or disable the uninstal-a-shield in Windows XP Pro with SP 2. I have any older Canon Multipass printer that will not install due to the uninstall program included within XP. Any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated ;)
